Official ICC team of the Cricket World Cup announced


International Cricket Council (ICC) announced its official team for the cricket world cup which is dominated by New Zealanders.

The team was selected a group of experts which included the ICC General Manager Geoff Allardice, journalists Andrew Alderson and Chloe Saltau, broadcaster Harsha Bhogle, ICC elite umpire Richard Kettleborough and former England captain Michael Vaughan.

The team was chosen not only based on statistics but with a view to create a balanced side. According to Allardice, some of the notable performers who missed out include Mahmudullah (BAN), Shaiman Anwar (UAE), Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin (all IND), Wahab Riaz (PAK) and Imran Tahir (SA).

The team is captained by Brendon McCullum, and the 12 member squad consists of 5 New Zealanders, 3 Australians, 2 South Africans, 1 Sri Lankan and 1 Zimbabwean.
